AI Software Engineer at VoiceLap

What you’ll do

• Design and ship LLM-powered workflows, conversational features, and Voice AI integrations.
• Build well-tested APIs and services that connect models with product experiences.
• Evaluate prompts, model output, latency, cost, safety, and reliability using real product signals.
• Work with product and engineering to turn ambiguous user needs into small, measurable releases.
• Improve observability and investigate failures across AI pipelines in production.

Working arrangement

This is a full-time, fully remote role for applicants based in India. We do not require a specific degree; equivalent practical skills and evidence of learning are welcome.

What we’re looking for

• Strong programming fundamentals in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or a comparable language.
• Experience building APIs, backend services, or practical AI prototypes.
• A clear understanding of data structures, debugging, testing, and version control.
• Curiosity about LLMs, retrieval, speech systems, evaluation, and responsible AI.
• Ability to communicate trade-offs and learn quickly in an early-stage team.

Helpful, not required

• Hands-on work with OpenAI-compatible APIs, RAG, embeddings, or model evaluation.
• Experience with speech-to-text, text-to-speech, streaming, or real-time systems.
• A deployed AI project, open-source contribution, internship, or strong portfolio.

Problems you may work on

• Making conversational responses feel natural while keeping latency predictable.
• Creating repeatable evaluations for empathy, usefulness, and safety.
• Connecting speech, model, and product systems without fragile hand-offs.
